Shruti Rajalakuhmi Hassan also known as Kanna is an Indian actress, singer and also a brand ambassador for and electric appliance company called Lloyd and Fossil Watches in India, she is the second child of filmmaker and actor Kamal Hassan and actress Sakina Thakur. She was born on the 28th of January the year 1986 in Chennai India.
The Indian superstar has appeared in more than thirty six movies with important roles one of them in the film Gabbar Singh which was a massive success and in action movie ‘Balupu’ which was also a hit getting nominated severally and winning not less than six award including the best actress, best playback singer, best actor in a negative role and many others. Shruti Hassan attended Abauss Montessory School and later joined St. Andrew’s college where she studied psychology.
She is in a serious relationship with boyfriend Michael Corsale an actor from London. Shruti Hassan acting career started at a tender age of six in a movie directed by her father ‘Hey Ram’ in the year 2000where she acted as a daughter of Vallabhbhai Patel while she was still in school. Imran Khan her childhood friend recommended her to the director of the movie ‘luck’ unfortunately gained a lot of backlashes and did not do well in the market. She caught a break when she appeared with actor Blaaze in promoting the bilingual film ‘Eanadu’ staring her father Kamal Hassan. Her 2010 movie ‘7aum arivu’ where she took the role of Subha Srinivasa a young intelligent scientist was a total success and won the Filmfare Awards South for the Best Female Debut
Shruti is a very talented singer and song composer. She admits that she prefers singing to acting. She sang in her father’s film ‘Thevar Magan’ a song composed by Ilaiyaraaja at the age of six, she even traveled to the US to learn music at the Musicians Institute in California.
To date, she has composed songs for films like ‘Eanaduand,’ ‘Unnaipol Oruvan’ she sang in the film Hissa featuring Dave Kushner; actually, she helped in writing the lyrics and featured her voice in the movie ‘Aagadu.’ She is currently a female vocalist of a rock band called The Extramentals.
